One of Van Rooijen Logistics’ priority areas is CO2 emissions reduction. Van Rooijen Logistics owns a modern fleet of vehicles. More than half of our fleet has at least Euro-4 engines. Thus, our fleet meets the current environmental requirements to carry out our work, even in designated areas of stringent pollution controls.

The fleet with which we do our fine-mesh distribution, meet the most rigorous pollution standards. All our vehicles are equipped with EEV engines. EEV stands for Extremely Environmentally Vehicles. An EEV engine is cleaner than the Euro-5 engine. These vehicles are mostly to be found in inner city areas.

Van Rooijen Logistics actively seeks to reduce its fuel consumption. Our own petrol station, driven by the most modern software, allows us to carefully monitor the fuel consumption of our entire fleet. We also save fuel as we do not need to travel to an external supplier for fuel. Other measures that we have taken to reduce our fuel consumption are: application of aerodynamics; limiting the maximum speed; and using ecocombis (LZV) on DC traffic. Using these so-called ecocombis allow us to transport one and a half times more freight than a normal trailer.

We also have a modern garage and car wash. All our vehicles, from our internal transport vehicles to our entire lorry fleet, are maintained and repaired in our own garage. Our own car wash makes sure that our entire fleet sets off clean and shiny. This also allows us to save on the extra kilometres that we would otherwise make using external garages and car wash services. All the cleaning agents used in the car wash are bio-degradable and are thus not harmful to the environment.

In redesigning our premises, we gave much thought to space saving opportunities in regard to the fleet and to our employees. This effort has meant that the surrounding wooded area has remained intact and that from now on our employees park on the parking deck.

At Van Rooijen Logistics we strive to involve our employees in corporate social responsibility. We ask them for example, to cooperate in separating rubbish. We also request our clients to save trees by working as digitally as possible. Despite the fact that we live in a “digital age” so many documents are still printed. To raise awareness that it is not always necessary to print emails, Van Rooijen Logistics policy is to make this clear in every email signature.
